In the past several weeks, the American Scaffolding Company has been
erecting the scaffolding around the Logan County Courthouse dome.
The scaffolding now surrounds the dome on all sides and is supported
by I Beams.
An interesting view of the scaffolding and I Beams from Latham Park
makes the dome look almost like a spaceship preparing for take-off.
Close-up views of the dome show the deterioration and paint that has
flaked off over the years.

With the scaffolding up, the next step will be to encapsulate the
dome with plastic before the dome restoration begins.
Next week, project manager Bill Walter of MRTS will be reviewing the
dome specifications with the Construction Technical Committee. He
will soon do an initial review of the construction management
portion of the restoration project with the Logan County Board
Building and Grounds Committee.
The dome specifications are about three weeks away from final
reviews. Within five weeks, Walter said public bid letting will
begin.
Building and Grounds Committee Chairman David Blankenship said they
are hoping to transition from having the encapsulation completed,
right into the dome restoration.
