[June 06, 2021]  LINCOLN - Ronald D. Leathers, 81, of Lincoln, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021, at his home.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Jefferson Street Christian Church, Lincoln.

Service: Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the church

Obituary

Ronald D. Leathers, 81, of Lincoln, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021, at his home.

A funeral service for Mr. Leathers will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Jefferson Street Christian Church 1700 N. Jefferson Street Lincoln. Mr. Michael Mallick will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post # 263. Cremation Rites to be accorded.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Jefferson Street Christian Church.

Ronald D. Leathers was born on April 25, 1940, in Aurora , Ill. the son of Verlen and Vernita Hart Leathers. He was united in marriage to Carole Horn Crane on October 23, 1982. She survives.

Also surviving are his children: Natalie (Jeff) Daugherty, Jay (Tammy) Leathers, Derrick (Lori) Crane, Darin (Deanna) Crane; six grandchildren: Blaire, Paige, Carly, Mallory, Brady, and Cameron; Four great grandchildren: Ollie, Rhett, Hannah, Sadie, one cousin: Beverly Heinzel. and one niece: Whitney Leathers Loss

Funeral Director

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: James C. Leathers, one Nephew: Matt Leathers.

Ron graduated from the Lincoln Community High School in 1959 and attended Southern Illinois University. He then joined the United States Army. He retired from CILCO/Ameren as a Lineman/Serviceman. Ron was a member of Elks Lodge #914 of Lincoln and American Legion Post # 263

His hobbies included golfing, fishing, hunting, boating, outdoor activities, reading, watching western movies and exercising at the Lincoln Park District.
He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Illini basketball.

Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Elks #914 or the Humane Society of Logan County.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home.
