LCHS athletes place in IHSA 2A BOYS Track and Field Championships

[June 21, 2021]  Six Lincoln athletes made the trip to take part in the IHSA Class 2A Boys State Track and Field Championships on Friday.  Events were held at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston for the Illinois High School.

Lincoln was represented in individual track events by Brenden Heitzig and Garrett Slack, and in two relay teams made up of Drake Rutledge, Jayson Butler, Jalen Franz, Aidan Gowin, Heitzig and Slack.

The day was hot and humid.

Individual

Junior Garrett Slack took 8th place in the 400m dropping his Sectional time of 50.39 to 50.28 seconds for a new PR, and picked up 2 points for the team.

Sophomore Brenden Heitzig took 15th place in the 3200m with a time of 10:42.79.

Relays

Lincoln’s 4X400 Relay team bettered their Sectional time of 3:28.63 by :00.47 for a 7th place finish at 3:28.16 picking up 3 points.
