Obituary

John Anthony Stone, 49, left this world for his home in heaven June 18, 2021. He was a man to whom God had given the gift of mercy, who cared deeply for others. He was known to have opened his small home to the homeless and needy more than once -- sometimes for extended periods of time. He attended Evangelical Free Church of Bloomington-Normal for many years and was appreciated for his faithful service as head usher. He was known among the family as "the one who could fix anything!"

John graduated from the Heyworth High School in 1989 and over the years kept in touch with some of his classmates. He was an avid model train fan. He had a dedicated room for his model train layout, which he built himself. He also enjoyed shooting off model rockets with his family and friends. He was a big Cubs fan, as well, and rose and fell as the Cubs won or lost.
