[March 05, 2021]  The Lincoln Railers were on the road again Wednesday night. This time the stop was in Charleston to take on the Trojans. It was the Railers third game this week in as many nights.

Brody Whiteman would get the Railers on the board in the first quarter and he would continue to light up that scoreboard all night long.

Whiteman’s first bucket came on a lob pass and even though he had to dance around his defenders in the lane, he was able to score and Lincoln was up 2-0. Charleston would take a 3-2 lead but it was Whiteman with the three to put the Railers up 5-3. A three from Jackson Braun put the Trojans back on top 6-5.

A corner three from Whiteman again flipped the lead back to the Railers, 11-6 the score. Charleston came back to score back-to-back field goals and the Railer lead was a slim 11-10.

After a couple free throws by Dylan Singleton, Whiteman hit another three to settle the first quarter score at 16-10.

In the second quarter the Railers went on a 12-0 run to take a 28-10 lead. Lincoln’s defense was outstanding in the second quarter and they would hold the Trojans to just four points. Lincoln led 30-14 at the half, with Whiteman and Singleton tossing in four points each and Landon Hullinger hitting two threes in the quarter.

The Trojans fought their way back in the third quarter and used a 10-0 run to close the gap to 30-24. Finally, a three from Whiteman ignited the Railers offense and then it was Singleton who really caught fire.

Singleton poured in seven points in the quarter for Lincoln. He capped off his performance with a corner three, just in time for the third quarter to come to an end. Lincoln was on top 42-25 over Charleston.

In the fourth quarter the Railers stretched the lead to 20 points after a three from Whiteman at the four minute mark, 50-30 the score.

The Railers finished the scoring with layups by Andrew Graue, Singleton and Jaylen Conway.

The final score was 56-35.

Lincoln’s Brody Whiteman scored a career-high 24 points. Dylan Singleton had 15 points and Landon Hullinger tossed in 10 points.

Lincoln improves to 12-3 overall and 8-3 in the Apollo Conference.
