[March 11, 2021]    Gabriel Landeskog scored at 4:22 of overtime, and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Arizona Coyotes 2-1 on Wednesday night in Denver.

Brandon Saad scored in regulation and Philipp Grubauer stopped 13 shots for Colorado, which got Nathan MacKinnon back in the lineup.

Antti Raanta had 44 saves, and Tyler Pitlick scored for Arizona.

MacKinnon missed three games after he took a check to the head in San Jose on March 3. MacKinnon was sharp, with 10 shots on goal in 24:44 of ice time.

With time ticking down in overtime, Landeskog stickhandled from the left circle, twirled into the slot and wristed a shot through traffic and over Raanta's left shoulder for his seventh goal of the season.

Colorado went in front almost at the outset. Andre Burakovsky brought the puck down the right side of the Coyotes zone and slid a pass back into the slot to Saad, whose quick shot beat Raanta just 1:23 into the game.

It was Saad's ninth of the season.

The Avalanche continued to put pressure on Arizona, but Raanta kept it a one-goal game with big saves. Colorado had an 18-3 shot advantage in the first period, with the Coyotes not putting a shot on Grubauer for the last 13:30 of the period.

The Avalanche continued the offensive surge in the second but couldn't get one past Raanta, and Arizona was able to tie it when Pitlick's shot from the right side went off the skate of Colorado's Tyson Jost and past Grubauer at 18:05. It was Pitlick's sixth on the year.

Colorado continued to dominate shots on goal in the third period, but Raanta kept them off the board. His biggest save came with 3:42 left when he made a sprawling save with his right pad on Valeri Nichushkin's shot from the right circle.

Arizona's Nick Schmaltz had a breakaway with 2:35 left, but he couldn't get a lot on his shot and Grubauer made the save.
