[March 15, 2021]

Olympia FFA celebrated National FFA Week on February 22nd-26th. They took the time to share with Olympia High School what FFA is and the opportunities it creates for members. Although this year’s FFA week was different than it has been in the past due to COVID-19 restrictions, FFA advisor, Bryce Hoffman and the Olympia FFA officer team were still able to create a fun week of FFA related competitions, activities, and dress up days for the students.

Throughout the week, dress-up days included pajama day, America day, cowboy day, and FFA day (blue and gold).

Mrs. Westphalen and Mr. Abrams’ advisory classes tied for having the most kids that participated in the dress up days.

Virtual assemblies were held each day during advisory to allow students to observe the activities that took place in the gym. During these assemblies students engaged in relay races such as: balancing a boiled egg on a spoon and riding a wooden horse. There was also a pig calling contest, hay bale toss, chuck an ag toy and a truck contest.

Andrew Litwiller was the champion of the hay bale toss, the faculty team won the relay races, Hunter Martin and Saegen Pierce won the chuck an ag toy contest, and A.J. Schrepfer was the champion of the hog calling contest.

Kids were invited to drive a truck to school on Thursday to be judged according to categories. Cole Kindred's truck won daddy’s money, Kendall Gayon’s truck won the best work truck, and Ty Miller's truck won the best overall.

To end the week, a delicious breakfast was made for all FFA members and high school staff on Friday, in order to show our appreciation for their year-round participation and support!

A big thank you to our supporters in the community, Olympia High School staff, teachers, and finally to all the students who participated in this week's activities!
