Report: Texans give P Cameron Johnston a 3-year, $8 million deal

[March 20, 2021]    The Houston Texans are signing punter Cameron Johnston to a three-year, $8 million deal that includes a $1 million signing bonus, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday.

The 29-year-old Australian appeared in all 48 games over the past three seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Johnston averaged 46.7 yards on 71 punts in 2020, just below his career average of 47.0.

The Texans released punter Bryan Anger on Thursday to save $2.5 million in salary cap space. The 32-year-old averaged 46.4 yards on 54 punts with Houston in 2020.
