Railsplitters route Riverton 17-2

[May 20, 2021]  The Lincoln boys baseball team continues to roll over the competition this season. On Friday the Railsplitters pounded out 16 hits against the Riverton Hawks en route to a 17-2 win.

Lincoln was led on the mound by Trey Schilling, who went the distance and earned the win. Schilling tossed six innings, striking out seven batters and walking just one. Schilling allowed two runs on four hits. A great outing on the mound for the stellar Lincoln freshman.

The Railsplitters were dangerous at the plate, with Dylan Singleton hitting a home run to center on the first pitch of the game. Singleton was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Lucas Konczyk also hit a home run in the game. Konczyk hit a two-run shot in the sixth inning over the left field fence. Konczyk was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored. Trent Koehler was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Keagan Ferguson was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Sean Raffa was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Rounding out the offense with hits for Lincoln were Alex Hoffert, Tanner Strampp, Drew Eimer, Patrick McCraith, Trey Schilling and Trent Butterfield.

Lincoln put up five runs in the first inning, with Dylan Singleton leading off the game with a solo home run. After walks to Trent Koehler and Keagan Ferguson, Tanner Strampp doubled to left to drive in two runs. Strampp took third on the throw and eventually scored on a passed ball. Sean Raffa then walked and advanced around the bases by stealing second, taking third on a balk and scoring on a ground out by Lucas Konczyk. Lincoln was up 5-0 early.

The Railsplitters plated two runs in the second inning. Singleton, who had reached base on a walk, scored on an error. Koehler, who had singled, scored on a passed ball. Lincoln was up 7-0.

In the bottom of the third inning the Hawks scored two runs on three hits off Schilling.

Lincoln was back to scoring runs in the top of the fourth inning. Koehler singled and scored on a double by Ferguson. With two outs Konczyk singled to center to score Ferguson. Raffa scored on an error. Lincoln was up 10-2.



The sixth inning was another big inning for the Railsplitters. After Strampp was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, Raffa singled to center. Strampp, who had advanced two bases on a balk and a passed ball, scored on the hit by Raffa. Konczyk then homered to left, scoring Raffa. The hit parade continued with McCraith, Butterfield, Singleton, Hoffert and Ferguson all slugging singles. When it was all said and done, seven runs had crossed the plate and Lincoln was well on the way to a victory with a 17-2 lead.

The Hawks were retired on three pop outs in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Railsplitters 17-2 win was in the books.

Lincoln improves to 13-4 on the season.

The Railsplitters host Springfield today at 4:30 p.m.
