Mount Pulaski dominates Judah Christian 18-1

[May 28, 2021]  The Hilltoppers hosted The Tribe of Judah Christian on Tuesday and won 18-1 in four innings.

A.J. Bailey started the game for Mount Pulaski. He tossed two and one-third innings. He allowed one run on two hits. Bailey struck out four batters and walked two.

Gavin Smith earned the win for Mount Pulaski. Smith tossed one and two-thirds innings, allowing no hits and no runs. He struck out five batters and walked one.

Mount Pulaski jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. A.J. Bailey walked and stole second base to start the game. Evan Cooper singled to center, advancing Bailey to third. Drew Martin walked to load the bases. Meanwhile, Bailey scored on an error by The Tribe’s catcher. With two outs, Grant Davis tripled to score Cooper and Martin. Davis scored the fourth run on an error by the shortstop.

The Hilltoppers put seven runs on the board in the second inning. Two runs scored on an error by the catcher. With two outs in the inning, the Hilltoppers scored five more runs. Davis hit an RBI single to score Gavin Smith. Davis stole second and scored on an error by the second baseman. Following a double by Jackson Fricke, Garrett Fitzpatrick sent a triple to center that scored Fricke. Lucas Kuhlman followed with his own RBI triple and Mount Pulaski was up 10-0. Kuhlman scored a run on an error by the second baseman and the Hilltoppers led 11-0. The second inning came to a close with Bailey popping out to the shortstop.

The Tribe scored one run in the top of the third inning on a bases loaded walk.

After a scoreless bottom of the third inning, Mount Pulaski was back in the scoring column in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Hilltoppers took advantage of seven walks and two hits in the inning to score seven runs.

Mount Pulaski won the game 18-1 in four innings.



Mount Pulaski had 12 hits against The Tribe.

Evan Cooper was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Grant Davis was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Garrett Fitzpatrick was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jackson Fricke was 2-for-2 with a run scored. Lucas Kuhlman was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Drew Martin was 1-for-1 with two runs scored. Hunter Kretzinger was 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Judah Christian committed five errors in the game.

Mount Pulaski improved to 16-0 on the season.

The Hilltoppers host Central A & M today at 4:30 p.m.
