Michael Frerichs announces Operation Purple Heart

[November 15, 2021]   Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs is responsible for Illinois' Unclaimed Property program.

On Thursday, Frerichs announced that he has possession of 11 military Purple Heart medals as part of that unclaimed property program. He would very much like to return these medals to their owners or survivors of owners. While the closest associated location with one of these medals is Decatur, the years have passed, and people do relocate. If there is a last name on the list that you recognize and know that a member of that family is a veteran, please pass along this information.
