The Lady Toppers opened
the 2021-22 season in tournament action on Monday night in
Riverton with a 37-29 win over the Riverton Hawks.
Mount Pulaski was led in scoring by Alexis Wade with 11 points.
Wade also contributed six rebounds, four steals and four
assists. Hailee Daigh tossed in 10 points and added seven steals
and two assists. Jena Rentmeister totaled seven points and five
rebounds.
Riley May pulled down 13 rebounds in addition to tallying four
points. Grace Davis added five points, three steals and three
rebounds. The Lady Toppers picked up their
second win in the tournament on Tuesday night as they downed
Olympia 54-45 in Riverton. Alexis Wade led all
scorers with 28 points. She tallied seven rebounds, seven steals
and six assists in the win for Mount Pulaski. Riley May added 11
points, eight rebounds and five steals. Grace Davis just missed
a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Jena
Rentmeister added four points, five rebounds and three steals.
Mount Pulaski coach Ryan McVickers is pleased with the first two
wins of the season and says, “The girls are playing hard. I love
their effort.” Mount Pulaski will resume play in
the tournament on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. Mount Pulaski will
play Tri-City in Riverton. The tournament will conclude
on Saturday in Clinton. The championship game is scheduled for
5:30 p.m. with the winner from the
Cranberry Pool taking on the winner of the Stuffing Pool. Teams featured in this year's tournament are:
