The Rockets had a little fuel left in the fourth quarter and
were able to make a 7-0 run on Lincoln to gain a little ground
and make the score 44-34 with 4:28 remaining in the game. But
baskets by Reese McCuan and Froebe would quickly extend the lead
to 51-35. Bowman hit two free throws down the stretch to seal
the 53-37 win for the Lady Railers. Lincoln’s
Varsity coach Taylor Rohrer was very proud of the girls on this
opening night win. “The girls played as a team and worked really
hard,” said Rohrer following the win. “They did a nice job on
the boards and moved the ball well. The girls played outstanding
defense against a good Rochester team. It was such a great
effort.” In the JV contest, the Lady Railers
defeated Rochester 45-32. Lincoln was led by freshman Piper
Whiteman with 15 points. Sophomore Jenna Bowman added 10 points
for the Lady Railers. The Lady Railers have a
busy weekend of basketball coming up. The
Varsity will begin play Friday night at 7:30 p.m. versus Mattoon
in the Pana Tournament. Lincoln is also scheduled to play
Williamsville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pana Tournament
will
run through November 27, 2021. The Lady Railers
JV will host a tournament this weekend in Lincoln. The JV will
open play on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. versus Bloomington. This
tournament will conclude on Saturday with the championship game
scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday in Roy S. Anderson
