Their only loss was at the hands of Mattoon earlier in the
tournament by a score of 54-45, making this championship win even
sweeter.
After the win, Lincoln Head Coach Taylor Rohrer had great things to
say about the game and her team.
“We knew it would be a tough game and the girls were hungry for a
win against Mattoon,” said Rohrer. “Thirty-two minutes of all out
basketball was the mindset we took into today’s game. Last week we
had a couple girls coming off of injury and we were missing a key
post player, having these players back made a big difference in the
championship game.”
“Mattoon is a really good three-point shooting team and has a guard
that can get to the basket with ease,” continued Rohrer. “We focused
on shutting down the drive and getting out on their shooters. We
wanted to control the boards and take care of the basketball. Over
the past week we worked a lot on our full court press - breaking it
down and adjusting to stop Mattoon from getting down the floor
quickly. We knew it would need to be a team effort, offensively and
defensively each player stepped up and did their job. The girls
executed our game plan to perfection which helped secure the win.”

“I am really proud of the effort the girls made in the game versus
Mattoon,” concluded Rohrer. “I’m also proud of their commitment to
each other and their positive mindset. This is a really exciting
group with great senior experience and leadership and a lot of young
talent.”
Kloe Froebe was named the Pana Thanksgiving Tournament MVP. She
averaged 25.2 points per game for the five tournament games.
Ryen Stoltzenburg was also named to the all-tournament team for her
performance. Stoltzenburg averaged 7.6 points per game.
