Cindy's Cottage

Styles by Robin

Today the Lincoln Daily News Paint the Paper Pink pictures feature two lovely ladies who are successful business owners in Lincoln.

Thank you to Cindy's Cottage and Styles by Robin for showing your support for those who are battling breast cancer.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month we want to share with you that in America one out of every eight women will experience some form of breast cancer in her lifetime.

That is a staggering statistic. Count out eight women you know, and then take one away. It's hard to do because you care about all of them. Here's the rub. Cancer doesn't care. The American Cancer Society is funding research daily to help find sure-fired cures and prevention methods, so you will not have to lose a friend or a loved one.

On Saturday afternoon the Lincoln Knights of Columbus were blessed with $100,000 from Joe and Sudie Mintjal. The money will be used for a new parking lot at the Knights Hall.

As a show of appreciation, the Knights presented a large plaque to be hung in the Hall. A similar small plaque was given to the Mintjal's for them to keep.

Pictured from the left are Roger McCoy, Nick Vaini, Joe and Sudie Mintjal, Sam McShane, and Andy Fitzpatrick.

On Saturday morning the United Way of Logan County celebrated 60 years of service to the community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The group first named the "United Fund," formed on October 2, 1961 to support local community service groups and organizations with monetary awards raised through local donations.

Administrative Director Patti Becker did the honors of snipping the ribbon at the cut.

Standing with Becker behind the ribbon were (left to right) Alderwoman Wanda Lee Rohlfs, Karen Hargis, Joe Schaler with the CIVC (behind Hargis), UWLC Board members Stacy May and Adrienne Klockenga, Alderman Rick Hoefle (behind Klockenga), UWLC Board member Jaylee Swinford, Becker, Tom Schonauer (behind Becker), Kevin Bateman, Logan County Tourism Director Alice Roate, Peggy Bateman (behind Roate), 2021 Logan County Fair Queen Caroline Ahrends, and Junior Miss Logan County Alayna Briggs.
