The Lincoln Community High School Theatre Department is proud to present its fall production, its first play in almost two years, “All I Really Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten” Oct. 14-17.

The play, based on the book by Robert Fulgham and adapted by Ernest Zulia, features over 30 vignettes, short scenes played by a variety of actors in a variety of roles. Performances are at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 and 16 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 17. There is no performance on Friday Oct. 15.

Twelve LCHS students will be on stage throughout the productions while five will work behind the scenes.

Director Jennifer Keith is thrilled to welcome LCHS theatre goers back to the LCHS Auditorium.

“It’s been a long drought for plays on the LCHS stage by LCHS students,” said Keith, “but these students have worked very hard and are so excited to just be back on the stage.”

Keith continued that even veteran actors were given a chance to direct some of the vignettes in this production.

“This play allows opportunities for students to play different roles, and three of the cast are also wearing director hats,” she said.

“They have really done tremendous work instructing their peers in blocking, motivation for the scenes, and setting their stages, but they have also run into roadblocks and limitations that staging, budget and timing all create - a great lesson for these young directors.”

Seniors Kaylea Ingram and David Schmidt and junior Adalyn Stone not only star in numerous scenes throughout the play, they also directed some.

“They cast their scenes themselves, blocked them, and coached the actors through the blocking,” said Keith. “They got frustrated with things all directors feel, especially the casting process, but it’s been fun for me to watch them grow.”

Rounding out the cast are seniors Connor Baker and Nikos Poulos, sophomore Logan Pumfrey and freshmen Presley Coale, Charlie McFadden, Kristina Morrow, Wyatt Ulvestad, Grace Tolliver and Lily Brant.

Behind the scenes are junior Gracelyn Keith and freshmen Emma Adams, Reece Winebrinner and Ester Brand.

Tickets are $5 each and will be available at the door 30 minutes before performance time. Masks are required for everyone in the LCHS building and social distancing is encouraged.
