At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday night, Lincoln Fire received a call of an active fire at 112 North Chicago Street, the home of the Logan County Genealogical & Historical Society.

At the scene it appeared that the actual fire might have been on the second floor of the building, but also that there was damage at the LCG&HS on the ground floor.

Tuesday morning, it was reported that the fire was contained to the building next door to the society. The society suffered smoke damage but none of the artifacts or genealogies inside were lost.

Today's Paint the Paper Pink picture features the six lovely ladies from R. W. Garrett Agency in Lincoln. We note that there are six ladies in the picture because it reminds us of something significant. Breast Cancer does not always come in the form of a lump, and sometimes one will not be able to feel anything during a self-exam and yet have cancer.

Please be aware of the varying symptoms.

A lump in the breast
Swelling in or around the breast, collarbone or armpit
Skin thickening or redness in or around the breast
Breast warmth or itching
Nipple changes or discharge
Breast pain lasting more than three to four weeks

If you notice any of these changes, you should call your doctor and get a professional opinion.

The 38th Annual Harvest of Talents was held this past weekend at the Lincoln Christian Church. This year the event offered outdoor sale opportunities, booths and tables set up inside and a live auction conducted by local auctioneer Mike Maske in the afternoon.

The Harvest of Talents is a fundraiser for the International Disaster Emergency Services, which feeds people around the globe. This year the combined efforts of the church and the community's support brought in more than $103,000 for the charity.
