The small and central Illinois town of Lincoln will soon have a production crew within its borders as Gemelli Films’ begin filming for their new series called Wrath & Rituals, which is due to be released in 2022.

The six-episode series follows an ensemble cast as they navigate the mysterious and dangerous world of secret societies. The series stars David Otunga as Detective Ciman Thomas, Eliza Roberts as artist Mary Catherine Doyle and Carly Bondar as adjunct professor and art historian Dara Truman.

“I’m very grateful to Senator Turner,” says Candice Cain, one of the series’ creators. “Since I’m from New York, I don’t have a very big network out here. Senator Turner jumped in and created a lot of bridges for me and my company.”

Gemelli Films is working in conjunction with Lincoln College and the Lincoln Heritage Museum to bring the series to life, thanks to a connection set up by State Senator Sally Turner.

“It is a wonderful opportunity and an honor that a New York company selected our small city of Lincoln to be the location for their filming,” said Ron Keller, a professor at Lincoln College. “I have been pleased to work with Gemelli Films, and I hope they continue to see our proud community as an ideal stage for future filming needs.”

Cain wants to create a hub for wholesome entertainment in central Illinois. Earlier this year, Gemelli Films produced the romantic comedy called Baking Up Love in Morton. The film focused on the fame Morton enjoys as the Pumpkin Capital of the World. The film was released in October on the SONY faith-based streaming network, Pure Flix.

“I am beyond excited to have Director Candice Cain, her cast and her crew in our humble town,” said State Senator Sally Turner (R-Beason). “I am honored that Director Cain chose not one, but two different communities within the 44th Senate District to film her productions. I look forward to continuing to work with her as she strives to make her goal of creating a new entertainment hub in our state.”

Gemelli Films will be in Lincoln from Nov. 4 to Nov. 6 and will return to continue filming from Nov. 8 to Nov. 10. They will be filming in various places such as the Logan County Courthouse, Lincoln College Museum, Lincoln College President’s office and even Ron Keller’s home.
