Lynn is the owner of the Village Pub and has been
in New Holland, coming from Mason City, for the past several years.
Eight years ago she took on the pub and has enjoyed success there
with support from the community.
Lynn explained recently that when she took on the pub, she really
had a desire to also offer food, but the pub was too small for a
kitchen and dining area, so she set that idea aside until just
recently.
Across the street from the pub at 103 West Lincoln in New Holland
was a restaurant that had over the years had a few owner/managers.
But, about three years ago the restaurant closed and no one came in
to take it over.
Lynn pondered the idea of opening the restaurant and two weeks ago,
she did just that, opening for business for the first time as Styles
Café.

Coers - center
New Holland Mayor Annie Coers noted that on that first weekend of
business, people lined up to get in, enjoy a good meal and show
support for Lynn’s newest adventure.
Of course, before the café could re-open there was work to be done
inside. Lynn said she had lots of support from family and friends in
getting the business cleaned up, doing a little redecorating and in
general preparing to re-open. She also has a
lot of support in managing the restaurant. She noted her good friend
Stephanie is her partner of sorts, keeping the place running
smoothly when Lynn can’t be there. Owning two businesses, Lynn has
to do a lot of shifting gears from one to the other and Stephanie
plays a big part in keeping everything on track at the café.
The staff at the restaurant are family members. Her daughter Aubrey
and daughter-in-law Mattie take care of customers and see to it food
arrives to the tables hot and delicious. Lynn also has the support
of her son-in-law Tyson and her significant friend Seth.
On Saturday, all of these friends and family joined Lynn behind the
ribbon for the cutting along with Mayor Coers.
Alice Roate with the Logan County Tourism Bureau and
Logan County Clerk Theresa Moore held the ribbon for the event.

During the cut, Coers spoke on behalf of the
village of New Holland, welcoming the new business and thanking Lynn
for her investment in the community.
Lynn introduced everyone standing behind the ribbon with her, and
then the group posed for the traditional photo. Everyone pitched in
to do the “three-two-one-snip” and Lynn and Coers together snipped
the ribbon on the new business.
The ribbon cutting on Saturday was the first of several activities
in New Holland that day. The New Holland Community Group was hosting
a fun day of activities in a fundraising effort to support a
scholarship fund for local high school graduates.
The day would include a Jeep/car/truck crawl, 50/50 drawings,
raffles, a water slide and rock climbing wall. There was a “buy your
way out” dunk tank where the person in the tank had to solicit
donations to get out. When one had paid or raised $20 then they
could escape the tank.
There was also a bags tournament and a scavenger hunt. The last
events of the day included a golf cart and ATV cruise with
designated “treat” stops and live music by Tulo and Eads.
Altogether, the day raised just over $2,200 for the scholarship
fund.
Coers explained that the scholarship fund will be used to grant two
$1,000 scholarships, one to a boy and one to a girl, who are
graduating high school and are also graduates of the New
Holland-Middletown School. The scholarships may be used for any
level of higher education including trade school, junior college or
university.
Congratulations to Styles Lynn on her new venture and to the New
Holland community for a successful fundraiser.
Styles Café is open Sunday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
