[September 16, 2021]  OBLONG — Shane Michael Babbs, age 35, of Oblong, Illinois, passed away at 12:38 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

Visitation: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton

Obituary

Shane Michael Babbs, age 35, of Oblong, Illinois, passed away at 12:38 p.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton. Services celebrating Shane’s life will be held following the visitation, with Gail Anderson officiating.

In loving memory of Shane, memorials may be made to the family.

Shane Michael Babbs was born on June 17, 1986, in Lincoln, the son of Bruce Lane Babbs and Carol Ann (Schleder) Babbs.

Shane had worked as a construction worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to auctions and collecting antiques.

Shane is survived by:

Parents – Bruce and Carol Babbs of Oblong

Children – McKenzie M. Babbs and Jayce M. Babbs of Casey

Siblings –

Robert L. (Pam) Babbs of Greenview

Tracy J. Bree (Scott Barnes) of Lincoln

Sherry A. (Eric) Leever of Lincoln

Jeremy L. (Brittany) Babbs of Oblong

Jessica A. Babbs (Terrence Hollis) of Oblong, Illinois.

Several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

Shane was preceded in death by his grandparents Herbert and Evelyn Schleder and Robert and Madonna Babbs.
