Do you believe?

[April 08, 2022]   John 11:25, 26 “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this?”

I believe that Jesus is the resurrection and the life. I believe that Jesus is truly God and truly man, two natures in one person.

I believe that Jesus died for the sins of the world through His perfect and complete atonement on the cross of Calvary. I believe that He rose from the dead bodily and in doing so conquered death, opening the gates to everlasting life. I believe… and truly cannot imagine my life without my belief in the Savior of the world.

I believe. My belief leads me. My belief leads me to gratitude. My gratitude leads me as well. My gratitude leads me to service and worship.

How could I ever repay this God? He has created us, provided for us, forgiven us, and adopted us into his eternal family. We don’t deserve any of His blessings, yet He gives us love and food and a roof over our head and a family. I am so thankful because I don’t deserve anything that God has given me. We are truly blessed if we know where to look!

I desire to serve because I am grateful for everything God has provided and I want to “make Him proud” with every day that He gives me.

Is life easy? No! Have I endured changes and losses and grief over the years for a variety of reasons? Yes!

Do I still have a lot to be thankful for by God’s grace and provision… particularly through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ? Absolutely!

As we celebrate Easter this year, may our hearts overflow with a genuine gratitude for the One who is The Resurrection and the Life. May this gratitude flow through us into a desire to worship and honor the God of life through regular church attendance, through volunteerism, and through the daily choices we make to honor God with our very breath.

Belief and Gratitude and Service all go hand in hand. If we are to respond to Jesus’ question in our scripture above in the affirmative, then we are called to integrate all three into our daily practice by the Grace of God.

Happy Easter!
