The 4-H Public Speaking project focuses on supporting youth in developing and strengthening their abilities and confidence to speak in front of people. Giving presentations helps develop many life skills including the ability to speak in front of a group, organize ideas, and create and present in 4-H. The public speaking contest provides youth with an opportunity to demonstrate their mastery of public speaking in front of their family, friends, community members and a judge. This year Logan, Menard, and Sangamon Counties held a multi county show on April 7 at the Sangamon County Extension Office. Guests present included the McBrian Lincoln Douglas Toastmaster Club.

4-H members that were selected as state fair delegates include, Rose Catterson (Logan), Ellie Wrage (Logan), Charlotte Judd (Logan), Allison O'Neill (Menard), Samantha O'Neill (Menard), Nolan Komnick (Sangamon) and Austin Komnick (Sangamon). The selected 4-H members have the opportunity to compete at the State 4-H Public Speaking Contest held on April 30 at Parkland Community College in Champaign, IL.

The overall Public Presentation Champion award was presented to Allison O'Neill (Menard), Samantha O'Neill (Menard). The overall Public Presentation Reserve Champion award was presented to Ellie Wrage (Logan). Thank you to Country Financial – Joe Ryan for sponsoring the public presentation awards.
