[April 13, 2022]   Hi, my name is Regan and I have been working the Logan County Sheriff’s Office as a 911 Telecommunicator for just over 3 years.

When calling 911 in an incident that requires police response, there is some very helpful information you can provide to your local Telecommunicator that will help us assist you and Law Enforcement.

Things we typically ask are: What is the address of the emergency? Your name and phone number? (We like to get a call back number in case we get disconnected and we have a way to call you back.) What exactly happened? When did this occur? How many people are involved, their names and physical/clothing descriptors? Direction of travel? Did the subject(s) leave on foot or in vehicle(s)? Vehicle description(s)? Then depending on the type of incident being reported we may have more specific questions.

All this information is provided to the responding officers so they can be preparing to assist you while they are responding to the incident. By providing these important details, it will help us dispatch the call quickly and efficiently while assisting the responding officers!
