Use 911 for emergencies only please

[April 15, 2022]   Hi, my name is Cathy and have been a 911 Telecommunicator for almost 3 years.

I would like to stress the importance of utilizing the 911 emergency lines for just that, emergencies only.

Anything non-emergent should be utilizing the non-emergency numbers for the Lincoln City Police at 217-732-2151 and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office at 217-732-4159. You can also call Logan Dispatch at 217-732-4159 option 1 and the Logan County Jail at 217-732-4159 option 2.

When calling 911 for non-emergency situation you could potentially be tying up lines and possibly delaying a response to someone calling in for an emergency.

Also, remember any cell phone with a working battery can still call 911 even if the phone has no service. So, if you are letting your child play with an old phone, please take the battery out so they do not accidently call 911. If you do accidently call 911, please stay on the line and let us know it was an accident. This will help save time and resources.
