A severe storm, with
obviously strong winds passed through Logan County in the early
morning hours of Monday, August 1st.
After the storm, Beason resident and LDN reader Holly Snyder went
out and grabbed a few shots of the damage done at the Beason grain
elevator. |
Workers at the elevator survey the damage from a distance on Monday
morning. |
|
|
Debris on the ground in the center of the photo appears to be part
of a catwalk or ladder system along with what could be parts of the
grain bins. The left hand bin has a large hole blown into it at the
top.
The right hand bin is severely damaged, missing its top cone and it
appears that the wind caved in one side of the bin.
|
|
A closer look at the large bin shows that indeed the wall is curled
in within itself. |
|
The tree damage in this photo is quite clear. If you look closer at
the ground in the tree line and on the far side of the two vehicles,
it appears that could be part of the grain bins from the elevator;
perhaps sections of the top cone of the largest bin that was
damaged.
Thanks to Holly Snyder for providing these photos. |

Additional damages and power outages
were reported in the surrounding area and in portions of downtown
Lincoln. West of Lincoln along Fifth Street Road, west of Interstate
55, near 900th Ave, power lines were crossing the road. And north of
Lincoln, north of Interstate 55 near 1250th Ave trees downed lines
with causing power to be out for hours.
The freak storm was a narrow band that passed over Lincoln just
after 5 a.m. |
