The My Favorite Pie Contest and Auction at the Logan County Fair was Saturday. Pies were judged by local baker Samantha Donosky and then sold at an auction held after the Doug DeMay Chili Cook-off.

Carlene Carter was the big winner of the day, placing first with her apple pie, second with her cherry pie and seventh with her peach pie.

At the auction, Carter also raked in the highest bids of the day. Her first place apple pie brought in $1,500, and her second place pie brought $900.

Pictured is Carter with Logan County Fair Queen Emma Stoltzenburg. The pie was purchased by a bidder who wished to remain anonymous.

The auction brought in $4.455 for the Logan County Fair Foundation.

Wednesday, August 3rd, was 4-H Scrambles night at the Logan County Fair. Bad weather forced the Logan County 4-H coordinators to pivot a bit, moving the event away from the grandstand and into the large animal show barn at the fairgrounds.

That would be only one of several twists that impact the annual event in 2022.

Case in point, it was supposed to be an animal scramble, so why are these youngsters all holding balloons? With the threat of avian flu, live poultry was banned from all fairs, so there was no chicken scramble. Instead, the kids 'scrambled' with balloons between their knees and then with eggs under their chins.

Find out the rest of the story in today's edition of Lincoln Daily News.

The annual tractor pull was the Thursday night grandstand entertainment at the Logan County Fair.

The ITPA-sanctioned event included everything from a garden tractor pull early in the evening to antique tractors, suped-up farm tractors, hot rods, and even some highly tricked-out trucks.

See more from the pulls in today's edition of Lincoln Daily News.
