[December 07, 2022]   “Taste and see that the LORD is good. How happy is the person who takes refuge in him!”

Psalms 34:8 (CSB)

“Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.”

Job 37:14 (KJV)

We have officially entered that season.

That time between Halloween and Christmas. When we start the Francis preparations. I was in the grocery store today when I noticed the two people ahead of me in the checkout line. Both of their carts were loaded to overflowing. I watched and wondered how many more people were like these, planning and prepping for the big dinner on Thursday. People all over the U.S. are doing the same. Planning, prepping, shopping, going over travel plans and guest lists. Getting ready for the sales on Friday. Pulling out the decorations for Christmas, checking lights, buying more decorations and gifts. All this will continue all the way up to Christmas Eve.

We’re all too consumed with it to slow down and stop long enough to be really thankful. To consider how good Jehovah really has been to us; a warm home to go to, provision for food and clean water, clothes to wear, and good shoes on our feet. We have family and friends who love us. Most of all, be thankful for what we celebrate in December. Two thousand plus years ago, a King was born. A king who left His divinity and put on the cloak of man, to become like us so He can redeem us to Himself. Yes, like the Psalmist said, “Taste and see that the Lord is good” and be thankful that He is so good to us.

Slow down and “Stand still and see the wonderous works of God”. He deserves of undivided and utmost attention, our praise, and our thanksgiving. Not just for what He has provided, but for what He did for us by becoming like us on that first Christmas.

Have a very Blessed Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.
