[December 18, 2022]  LINCOLN - August Frederick “Fred” Heidbreder, 91, of Lincoln, passed away on Friday, December 16th, 2022, at his home.

Visitation:  Friday, December 23rd at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln

Service:  11 a.m. Friday at the church

Obituary

August Frederick “Fred” Heidbreder, 91, of Lincoln, passed away on Friday, December 16th, 2022, at his home.

Fred was born on April 13th, 1931, in Lincoln, the son of Henry and Emma (Kopf) Heidbreder. He married Dorothy “Doty” Colson on July 12th, 1953, in Lincoln. She preceded him in death on December 2nd, 1998.

Fred is survived by his children: Kevin Heidbreder of Maumee, Ohio, and Kathryn (Tim) Neitzel of Lincoln, seven grandchildren: Emily Heidbreder, Chase (Melissa) Neitzel, Collin (Samantha) Neitzel, Ethan (Ashleigh) Neitzel, Kirsten (Matt) Wheeler, Ian Neitzel and Connor Neitzel, along with ten great grandchildren: Cadence, Tessa, Madison, Brooklynn, Hunter, Ashton, Nolan, Leighton, Camryn, and Mia. He is also survived by one brother: Vernon Heidbreder of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three brothers: Henry, Lloyd, and Harold.

Fred served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later retired from Lehn and Fink where he was the Union Leader for many years. He also farmed for Alvin & Chris Klockenga and worked for Werth Service Station and Bruns Services.

Fred was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and restoring cars.

Funeral services for Fred will be held on Friday, December 23rd at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. also at the church. Burial will follow the service at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln where full military honors will be accorded by American Legion Lincoln Post # 263.

Memorials may be made in Fred’s name to Zion Lutheran Church.
