Collinsville defeats Lincoln 44-38

The Railers finished in sixth place in the 2022 Prairie Farms Holiday Classic in Collinsville after a 44-38 loss to the hosts on Friday afternoon.

The two teams were tied 8-8 after the first quarter with Ki’on Carson and Payton Cook scoring the Lincoln baskets.

Lincoln found themselves down 19-15 at the half.

By the end of the third quarter, Collinsville was in front 32-22 and Lincoln was struggling to get shots to fall.

The Railers put up a good fight in the fourth quarter, pulling to within six points late in the game, but Collinsville would not surrender the lead. Despite scoring sixteen points in the quarter, which included eight points from Cook, Lincoln suffered a 44-38 loss in the end.

Payton Cook led the Railers with 13 points. Ki’on Carson chipped in 11 points for Lincoln.

Lincoln falls to 12-3 on the season and finishes the tournament in sixth place.

The Railers are off until January 6, 2023. The team travels to Mahomet-Seymour to take on the Bulldogs in a 7:30 p.m. Friday night game. The JV game will start at 6 p.m.
