The LMH Market will be open from 8 a.m. until noon Saturdays until
Sept. 24 inside the Expo Building. Sponsored by the Lincoln Memorial
Foundation, the event is a “producer-only” farmers market, meaning
all items offered will be homegrown, handmade or vendor-created from
locally owned operations.
A “Local Roots” booth will feature local vendors, providing an
opportunity for vendors who are not producer-only but have a local
connection and a quality product to share with customers.
“We’re very proud that The LMH Market has become a wellness
destination like no other in Illinois,” said Angela Stoltzenburg,
director of community health for Lincoln Memorial Hospital. “The
market’s aim is to promote fresh food and healthy living while
supporting local farmers and the food-producer economy.”
That makes it an extension of the hospital’s mission to improve
lives and build stronger communities through better health,
Stoltzenburg said.
The LMH Market will offer fruits, vegetables, eggs, poultry, baked
goods, honey and more. Free health screenings will be held on the
2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. “Knowing more about your health
status can help reduce your risk of costly health problems and
better manage any condition you might have,” Stoltzenburg said.

The Power of Produce (POP) Club will offer activities for children from 5 to 12
years old to engage them in the local food system with educational games and
demonstrations, conversations with farmers and exposure to new fruits and
vegetables.
“We have a healthy mission at our core. In Logan County, over 43 percent of
adults are obese, which is causing several unhealthy outcomes for our
community,” Stoltzenburg said. “While we have several strategies to address
obesity underway, The LMH Market increases access to fresh produce. We know that
thriving farmers markets have been proven to improve the health of communities.”
