As Lincoln Park District (LPD) began its new year, heads of departments and directors gathered to work on Summer of 2022 plans. They noted several businesses in Lincoln are struggling to find enough employees to fill schedules.

"We know so many local businesses are in need of staff and hiring. We thought it would be great to open up our facility for a community job fair, " LPD Fitness Manager Jennifer Prather said.

The park district decided to help the community at the same time as they work to set up their staffing needs for this summer season.

On Monday, February 28, the Lincoln Park District will host Job Fair 2022. (See end for details.)

Any business in Lincoln looking for any kind of workers for their establishment is welcome.

Lincoln Park District will host a booth at the job fair to hire its summer crew of lifeguards, pool attendants, concessions workers, youth league umpires and grounds crew.

The job fair is also open to business's for the entire community to participate. Local businesses looking for employees are invited to come out, and for free, host a table for job applicants to visit. See details at the end.

If you are looking for a job, come out and see which local businesses are hiring and fill out an application on the spot. This is a great way potential employees can ask questions and get applications.

Even college students looking for a job to finish off the school year, and maybe even stay through the summer should come out. College students getting ready to graduate might also find a full time job to stay here in Lincoln.

For teens still in school, the early application can get our youth thinking and energized about this summer's work opportunities and help family's plan for their summer - family compatible work hours, transportation to work, vacations, etc.

Parents, remember your first job, you know it taught you a lot. Now it is a great time for you to encourage and steer your children through employment. Jobs aid in the maturing process, creating graduated independence and new confidences heading into adulthood.

Summer work teaches youth responsibility, gives them experience for college applications and later for job resumes. Earning a pay also helps youth learn to handle money. A paycheck puts a little change in their pockets, and hopefully some will go in a savings for their future, which comes all too soon after high school and college.

The best summer youth jobs often have stiff competition due to limited numbers of employment openings. Don't wait until the last minute, find something you would like to be doing this summer. Find the job that best suits you.

If you are a teen looking for a summer job, be sure to stop by and learn more about the jobs that are available for you!

The job fair is a great opportunity to avoid the last minute scramble and driving around looking for, and applying for jobs. Get on the spot applications, possibly even interviews, and get hired.

Prather said, "It will be free for companies to come set up for our couple hour event and free for the community to come and see who is hiring!"
