Daniel Phillips December Senior of
the Month at Mount Pulaski High School

Daniel Phillips, son of Derek Phillips of Mt. Pulaski, has been
named December Senior of the month at Mount Pulaski High School. He
was selected for this honor based on the criteria of scholarship,
leadership, service, and character.
During his time at MPHS, he has been a member of the Soccer and
Track teams and Student Council for four years. He also has
participated in Science Olympiad for three years, Academic
Challenge, Spanish Club, and NHS for two years, And Art Club for one
year. He also played indoor Soccer and Track for one year.
Daniel has been named Health, Advanced Chemistry, and Advanced
Biology Student of the Year. For Soccer he has earned the Pineapple
Award, Defensive Player of the year for two years, and the Four Year
Award.
Outside of school Daniel worked as Lifeguard for two summers. He
also made Christmas cards for the residents at Vonderlieth, did
trick or treating for canned goods, worked the state basketball
game, helped serves meals for the booster club, and worked Christmas
on Vinegar Hill.

Daniel plans to attend University of Illinois at Springfield in the
fall and complete the Medical Lab Science program and become a
Scientist.
The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by Conaway Handyman Service and
Downing, Przykopanski, Clements, & May Insurance Agency, Inc. They are also in
the running for the $500 Senior-of-the-Year award sponsored by INB.
