[January 16, 2022]   LCTV, the student operated television station at Lincoln College, has been nominated for the overall 2022 Best College/University Television Station by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS).

In addition, the Radio, Television, and New Media program at Lincoln College was also nominated in six additional categories of the IBS annual awards competition, announced on Monday. The awards will be presented in early March at the IBS annual conference, to be held virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other institutions competing for the Best College/University Television Station honors are Temple University, Ashland University, Lasell University, Arkansas State University, William Patterson University of New Jersey, and Western Illinois University.

Lincoln College received nominations in the following individual categories:

Best Show Promotional Poster: Hate is Not Welcome Here; credit to Luken.

“The nomination for Best College/University Television Station represents a remarkable accomplishment, considering that LCTV has existed since only 2016,” said Dr. John Malone, Lincoln College Division Chair for Fine Arts and Communication. “Credit goes to the outstanding efforts of our students, particularly our student leader, Zak Luken, whose infectious work ethic and dedication has filtered down to the rest of the staff. Kudos must also be extended to Bud Broyles, who I hired in 2018 to take LCTV to the next level. And, the addition of Jesse Guinn to our television/interactive faculty last year was also a home run.”

Overall, IBS received close to 2,000 entries from 77 separate educational institutions nationwide.

Lincoln College launched the baccalaureate program in Radio, Television, and New Media in 2016. The program has been recognized each year by both IBS and the Illinois Broadcasters Association for student achievements in media. Approximately 30 students are enrolled in the program.
