[January 24, 2022]  ATLANTA - Shirley E. Amberg, 85, of Atlanta, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Visitation:  12:30 pm. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service:  1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home

Obituary

Shirley E. Amberg, 85, of Atlanta, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Shirley was born on March 21, 1936, the daughter of Richard and Melba McGregor. She married James F. Amberg on April 27, 1981 in Minnesota. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2017.

She is survived by her children, April (Don) Martin of Lincoln IL, Gina Akerman of Lincoln, and Kevin Wilmert of Palestine TX; her step-children, Jim (Rosie) Amberg Jr. of Kentucky, Cindy (Mike) Amberg-Kruse of Springfield, Bo Amberg of WI, and Rod Amberg of Lincoln; sister, Patricia (Harold) Hornke of Pekin; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.

 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; son, Gregg; brother, Dickie, sister, Charlotte; and two granddaughters.

Shirley worked at Stetsons, Lehn & Fink, and the Bottle Factory, then retiring from being a meter maid for the City of Lincoln.

Services for Shirley will be held at 1:00 pm. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, officiated by Rev. Steve Blaum. Visitation will take place at 12:30 pm. prior to the service. Burial will follow the services at Bethel Cemetery in rural Emden.

Memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s name to The Humane Society of Logan County.
