On Saturday afternoon the Lincoln Baggers hosted a fundraiser bags tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society via the Friends and Family Relay Team at the American Legion in Lincoln.

The Lincoln Baggers get together on a regular basis to play bags aka Corn Hole and from time to time host tournaments to benefit local organizations.

According to the group representative Brandon Brosamer, the group enjoys playing and takes great pleasure in doing so while also supporting those who are working to improve our community in various ways.

To enter the tournament each team of two paid a $40 entry and brought their own corn hole bags. Fifty percent of their entry was given to the Friends and Family Team.

Brosamer presented the cash to Friends and Family Team co-captain Karen Hargis.

In addition to the entry fee, Friends and Family Team members Hargis and Nancy Cunningham were on hand selling 50-50 tickets as well as raffle tickets for the four items being offered this year.

The raffle items include a Ducati battery powered child-sized motorcycle donated by Rent One in Lincoln, a pink International Harvester peddle tractor donated by Central Illinois Ag in Atlanta and painted by Darin Schempp of Atlanta, a Weber gas grill from Ace Hardware in Lincoln, and a pair of pistols from Duvall Automotive and Tactical Bunker.

At the end of the day, the team brought in more than $800 made up of proceeds from the entry fees, the 50-50 drawing where the winner donated the money back to the relay team, and donations made to the relay team by the tournament winners.

The Friends and Family Relay Team would like to thank the Lincoln Baggers for hosting the fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society. Also a big thank you to the American Legion for giving the team the space free of charge for the fundraiser tournament.

Another special thanks to Friends and Family Team member Annie Coers who coordinated with Brosamer and Maurice LeSuer of the Lincoln Baggers to make the tournament happen.

The day began at noon and elimination play went on throughout the afternoon producing a final result of three teams proving to be the best of the day.

The third place winning team was that of Josh Gallagher and TJ Gallagher. The two posed for a photo with Vicki Bramwelt-Davis representing the American Legion Ladies' Aux.

The second place winners were Matt Redding and Jay Ruffner.

And the big winners of the day, placing first were the team of Maurice LeSuer and Josh Patton.

The Lincoln Baggers get together at the American Legion on a regular basis to just play a few rounds and keep their throwing arms in good shape. Brosamer said the group enjoyed doing the fundraiser this weekend, and will look forward to doing another one for the Friends and Family Relay Team early next year.
