Lady Railers lose in Regional Championship to Mount Zion

[June 01, 2022]    The Lady Railers finally got to play their Class 3A Regional championship game on Saturday versus Mount Zion and the Braves took home the championship plaque with a 3-1 win.

 

After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Railers tied the game in the top of the fourth inning. 

 

Cara Farnam led off the inning with a double and she advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Taryn Stoltzenburg. Cassie Bridge drove Farnam home on her sacrifice bunt to the second baseman.

 

Mount Zion went ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning. 

 

The Braves scored again in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 3-1 advantage over Lincoln.

 

The Lady Railers were retired in order in each of the sixth and seventh innings.

 

Mount Zion won the regional championship by a final score of 3-1.

 

Cara Farnam and Taryn Stoltzenburg had the only hits for Lincoln.

 

Farnam took the loss for Lincoln. She allowed seven hits and three runs in six innings of work. She struck out seven batters and walked one.

 

The Lady Railers end the 2022 season with a final record of 22-13.
