On Wednesday, Karen Hargis visited Central Illinois Ag in Atlanta, where Matt Voelker presented her with a pink pedal tractor to be raffled off to benefit the American Cancer Society.

This year, the little tractor is extra special because it is a custom paint job done by Atlanta resident Darin Schempp.

Voelker explained that while last year he was able to obtain a pink tractor through Case-IH, this year, no such offering was available. Voelker spoke with Schempp, who volunteered to do a custom paint job for the American Cancer Society. Schempp was given a standard red and white tractor, a pedal version of the IH 1066. He then created his own colors for the tractor, turning red to a soft pale pink and white to a cream color. He also painted the American Cancer Society logo on the tractor.

Raffle tickets are on sale now at Central Illinois Ag and Atlanta National Bank in Atlanta and Lincoln Daily News in Lincoln. The money raised from the raffle will be funneled to the American Cancer Society by the Friends and Family Relay Team, of which Hargis is a chair.

A large crowd gathered Thursday evening, anxiously awaiting the 5 p.m. opening of the Humane Society of Logan County's annual garage sale preview night. In no time at all, HSLC volunteers were busy assisting customers and ringing up sales.

The sale will continue as a part of the annual Route 66 Garage Sales through Sunday. If you didn't make it out on Thursday evening, you still have the opportunity and plenty of merchandise is on hand at the sale.
