The Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run will take place this coming week, with 22 running groups making their way to Bloomington from throughout the state in time for the Illinois Special Olympics Games on Friday, June 17.

One such group will be passing through Logan County on Thursday, June 16, and plans to stop at New Union Cemetery to pay tribute to the late Logan County Sheriff Deputy Scott Brown.

Brown supported all types of youth activities, including being a Logan County D.A.R.E. officer and a supporter of the torch run for Special Olympics for many years.

The running group is expected to be at the New Union Cemetery at around 2 p.m. on Thursday. The community is invited to come out at that time and throughout the run on Thursday to show support for the participants.
