In response to concerns that the Logan County
Genealogical & Historical Society monthly program on the Ku Klux
Klan was intentionally set for June 20, the official observance of
the Juneteenth Celebration, LCGHS wishes to set the record straight.
The program was not meant to create conflict, but to present an
historical, educational account of how what occurred nationally was
carried out in Logan County. The program was not intended to be
divisive nor to promote the activities of the KKK, and has the
potential to help combat racism.

June 20, the third Monday evening of the month, is the
traditional meeting night for LCGHS. This KKK program, which had been on the
LCGHS potential speaker list for several years, was selected after three other
possible programs had to be rescheduled due to speaker availability in June.
