Bill Thomas to address Logan County Genealogical & Historical Society June meeting

Bill Thomas will be presenting the program, "The Ku Klux Klan in Logan County," during the 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 20, meeting of the Logan County Genealogical & Historical Society in the Mary-Pat room of the American Legion hall.

His presentation will be geared to an overview of the KKK, its activities in the Lawndale and Atlanta areas, and will touch on other KKK gatherings in the county.

The meeting is open to the public, and will be followed by a brief business meeting and refreshments.

Thomas, Director of the Logan County Economic Development Partnership, graduated from Eureka College and completed his Masters Degree at the University of Chicago.

A former junior high history and social studies teacher, he has also served as associate director of admissions at Eureka College and has been employed as CEO of Teleologic Learning Co., a firm that designed online training for corporate and government clients.

He is especially interested in Route 66, and has been appointed to the newly formed U.S. Route 66 Centennial Commission which will be responsible for planning the Mother Road's 100th anniversary celebration in 2026. Thomas and his wife, Chris, reside in Atlanta.
