Letters to the Editor

Lincoln Daily News welcomes letters of appreciation, information and opinion on matters pertaining to the community.

Controversial issues:
As a community we need to be able to talk openly about matters that affect the quality of our lives. The most effective and least offensive manner to get your point across is to stick to the issue and refrain from commenting on another person's opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

To the editor:

The American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Day was a great success. It could have not been possible without the help and support of many.

We would like to thank the City of Lincoln, Lincoln IGA, Walmart, Farm and Home, Ace Hardware and the Country Aire at Atlanta for allowing us to distribute the poppies at their businesses.

The American Legion was also a big part in our success. We would also like to thank those great volunteers that took time out of their holiday weekend to help. A big “Thank You” to all those that donated for the poppies.

[to top of second column in this letter]

The proceeds from “Poppy Day” goes to our many Veterans’ projects, especially those locally. It is in a small way that we can say “Thanks” to all who served! When you see a veteran, shake their hand and say “Thank You for Your Service”!

Diane Farmer
American Legion Auxiliary
