The community is invited to join Kristi Powell and Randy Jones in a ribbon-cutting and grand opening event at their newly purchased business outside Hartsburg on Illinois Route 121.

The two have purchased what was most well-known as Tom's Lodge and is now named ‘The Lodge Off 66.’

The ribbon-cutting will be hosted at noon on Saturday, July 2, with very special grand opening activities continuing through the afternoon and evening.

On Sunday afternoon, Habitat for Humanity of Logan County marked the official start of come number 26 in Logan County. The home will be a restoration project for the organization after purchasing an abandoned house from the city of Lincoln.

When work is completed, Rylee Long and her four children will become the new owners of the five-bedroom home.

Rylee posed with her daughter Zoee and her three sons (L to R) Zkiel, Zaedin, and Zyen.

Also, on Sunday, HFH Board Chair Tonita Reifsteck announced the recipients of the 2021-22 Wall of Fame Awards. One of the three recipients this year is Reverend Glenn Shelton, who has served on the HFH board and always made an enormous contribution to the efforts of HFH through work, prayer; and food for volunteers, courtesy of his wife Ginger.

The other two recipients, Donna Boyd and Patti Drake, were not present for the presentation.

LDN will have additional coverage of the afternoon event in a future edition.

Even though the storm clouds loomed throughout the day on Saturday, it was a bright and happy day at Scully Park in Lincoln where the Open Arms Christian Fellowship Church hosted its annual Family Fun Day open to the whole community.

There was a lot of good food, games for kids, and live entertainment all free throughout the day. When the rains came, everyone took shelter in the large tent on the grounds and when they subsided, it was back outside for a day of fun and fellowship in Lincoln.
