Missing swimmer found deceased

On June 26, 2022, at approximately 1:35 pm, Logan County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call regarding a missing person. It was reported that Chad A. Osland (dob: 07-04-78) was last seen swimming just south of the 700 block of 1550TH Street in rural Lincoln.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with other law enforcement and emergency medical agencies in their search and rescue efforts. In the late afternoon hours, the investigation changed from a missing person’s investigation to a recovery operation.

On June 27, 2022, at approximately 10:17 am, Chad Osland’s body was recovered from the water.

The cause of death will be determined by the Logan County Coroner’s Office after an autopsy is conducted and the investigation into the death continues.

The following agencies aided in the recovery: Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Logan County Emergency Management Association, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District, Logan County Paramedics Association, Lincoln Fire Department, Middletown Fire Protection District, West Lincoln Township, and the Logan County Coroner’s Office.
