Lincoln intersection of Pulaski and Kickapoo Streets closed April 4th
evening for film

At the Monday, March 21st meeting of the Lincoln City Council, one item on the consent agenda was the request to close the intersection of Pulaski and Kickapoo Streets on Monday April 4th from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The approved closure will include the intersection and one-half block in each direction from the intersection.

The item comes as the result of a request from Thomas Quinn representing the Illinois Wesleyan University.

Quinn presented the request to the council at the March 15th committee of the whole meeting. He said the intersection would be used as the location for a student made film on the negative impacts of bullying.

The jest of the scene will be an accident that occurs at the intersection involving a young person who is driving in an upset condition.

Quinn said that the on-scene filming will begin after the accident has occurred, so there will be no live crash scenes at the intersection. He said the filming will involve two characters who are angry after the accident and there will be some shouting and loud voices. Other than that, he said the filming would be relatively quiet.
 

The intersection needs to be closed from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. though filming will not take that long. Quinn said that the crew would need time beforehand and afterward to set up and tear down the scene. He felt actual filming would probably be done before 10 p.m.

He added that the community is invited to watch the filming if they so choose. The Lincoln Police department will be on hand to assure traffic safety in the area.
