Morton defeats Railsplitters 7-4

[April 30, 2022]   The Railsplitters fell behind early to Morton on Tuesday afternoon and it was the Potters picking up a 7-4 win over Lincoln. 

 

Morton plated five runs in the bottom of the first inning off Lincoln starter Aidan Nemeth.

 

The Railsplitters scored a run in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by Sean Raffa.

 

The Railsplitters added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning when Jake Baker and Jaden Klopp hit run-scoring singles. 

 

The 5-3 Morton lead was intact until the bottom of the fifth inning when Morton increased the lead to 6-3.

The Potters added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 7-3.

 

Lincoln added a run in the top of the seventh inning but fell short by a final score of 7-4.

 

Aidan Nemeth took the loss for Lincoln. Nemeth lasted five innings, giving up six runs on eight hits. 

 

Sean Raffa pitched the final inning, allowing one run on two hits. Raffa struck out two batters.

 

Lincoln had 13 hits versus Morton pitching.

 

Jaden Klopp was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

 

Trey Schilling, Sean Raffa and Colbie Glenn each had two hits for the Railsplitters.

 

Daulton Miller, Andrew Graue, Jaden Leadley and Jake Baker each had one hit for Lincoln.

 

The Railsplitters record falls to 10-7 on the season. 

 

The Railsplitters play at Metamora on Friday, April 29, 2022. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
