will host nine weeks of Day Camp and eight weeks of Resident Camp at
its central Illinois camp sites. Registration is now open and slots
still available for day camps at both Camp Widgiwagan in Springfield
and Camp Kiwanis in Mohomet and overnight camps at Camp Tapawingo
for girls to Find Their Adventure.
“Throughout Central Illinois, as well as across the nation, we’ve
seen the impact of phycological and social stress as well as
educational gaps and learning loss due to the isolation caused by
COVID,” said GSCI CEO Pam Kovacevich. “We’ve worked hard to keep our
girls engaged and we’re extremely excited to get everyone back
together at camp this year and let the girls go back to learning and
exploring together.”
All camps will open at full capacity June 13th and will run through
August 12th. The programs are all designed for girls to explore
leadership, build skills, and develop a deep appreciation for
nature. Whether for a day, a week, or longer, Girl Scout camp gives
girls an opportunity to grow, explore, and have fun together.
GSCI operates four camp locations across central Illinois including
Camp Tapawingo in Metamora, Camp Widjiwagan in Springfield, Camp
Kiwanis in Mohomet and Camp Peairs in Hudson. Each camp location has
a unique environment that allows for a variety of summer camp
experiences including horse-back riding, canoeing, hiking, ropes
courses, and dozens of outdoor adventures designed specifically for
girls to explore both their creative and adventurous sides.

Mad Scientist
For girls entering grades 1-5
Grab a lab coat and safety glasses and prepare to get sticky, make a
mess, and watch things explode! Girls will compete in engineering
challenges, peer into a microscope, and conduct experiments as we
explore the wonderful world of science.
Monday, June 20 - Friday, June 24
Time Warp
For girls entering grades 1-5
The girls will take a trip backwards through time! Each day campers
will explore exciting adventures in different time periods. Campers
will hand jive through the 50s, take a flower hike through the 60s,
wear neon and make scrunchies during the 80s, and discover what Girl
Scouts of the past loved about camp.
Monday, June 27 - Friday, July 1
Into the Woods
For girls entering grades 1-5
Girls will head out on the trails and learn about the plants and
animals that call Tapawingo home. They’ll go on scavenger hunts and
pond studies, learn how to leave no trace, and build campfires and
make crafts from nature as they work on their outdoor artist badges
Monday, July 18 - Friday, July 22
Camp Ooey Gooey
For girls entering grades 1-6
Dig out the mud boots and oldest clothes- it’s time to get messy!
Take part in a food fight, condiment twister, shaving-cream fights,
and ooey gooey slime making. Don’t forget a swimming suit - we will
be hosing down our mess with plenty of water games!

Sun Squad
For girls entering grades 6-12
Girl will learn how to advocate for a brighter future and leave minimal impact
in nature. They’ll discover a new outdoor skill, practice an eco-trek through
camp and investigate local environmental issues. They’ll take a trip to the St.
Louis Aquarium and meet with a conservationist about environmental issues in the
ocean and how we can help. We spend the week brainstorming solutions and learn
how to teach others about your cause.
Monday, August 8 - Friday, August 12

Super Girls
For girls entering grades 2-3
Girls will test their strength at the 40-foot climbing wall, take aim at the
archery range, and explore the ravine and get muddy creek stomping. When they’re
not out training to be a superhero, they’ll design their own super hero cape and
make a super hero mask. They’ll also have plenty of time to relax around the
pool and sing songs around the campfire with all their new super friends.
Sunday, June 26 - Friday, July 1
Broadway Blast
For girls entering grades 4-6
For those who dream of becoming the next big actress or theatre techie or a
dancer on Broadway. Girls will see what it takes to make it big under the bright
lights as tehy play improv games, make costumes, and try on stage makeup.
Whether they prefer to take the spotlight or ensure the show will go on from
backstage, they’ll work together to write and perform a one of-a-kind production
for the whole camp.

Bon Appetit!
For girls entering grades 4-6
Breakfast, lunch, dinner: they can handle it all! For this tasty week at camp
the girls will create their own recipe book while they cook up mystery boxes,
bake bread, and compete in a cupcake decorating contest. Make new foods over the
fire, learn new techniques and have lots of fun as they become cooking pros!
Sunday, July 17 - Friday, July 22
Major Messiness
For girls entering grades 6-8
Ingredients: * 20 Cadette campers * 5 platform tents * 2 camp counselors * 8
cans of shaving cream * 2-4 days of mud, leaves, and sticks * 1 jar of paint in
every color, with glitter. * 6 days of old clothes * 2-4 tarps with 2 bottles of
ketchup, mustard, jelly, and relish * 4 cans of tomato soup * A little bit of
soap Mix together campers, tents, and counselors at Camp Tapawingo. Add in
remaining ingredients as desired. Combine with crazy ideas, silly games, and
tasty snacks. Guaranteed to result in a major mess.
