[May 25, 2022]    The Lady Railers opened regional action on Tuesday versus Urbana High School and the game ended under the lights as Cara Farnam tossed a perfect game for Lincoln, blanking the Tigers 1-0 in nine innings.

That was 27 up and 27 down for Farnam and the Lady Railers, who were perfect on defense behind the junior pitcher. Farnam struck out 9 Tigers. The rest of her stat line was all goose eggs: 0 hits, 0 runs and 0 walks. It is Farnam's first perfect game in her career.

The Lady Railers scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs. Taryn Stoltzenburg’s bunt single to the shortstop started the rally. Cassie Bridge would hit a ground ball and reach base on an error by the first baseman, as Stoltzenburg raced around the bases and scored the game-winning run.

The Urbana pitcher, Allison Deck, was outstanding from the circle, too. Deck tossed eight and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on two hits. Deck struck out 15 Lady Railers.

The Lady Railers improved to 22-12 on the season.

Lincoln will play Mount Zion Friday at 4:30 p.m. for the Class 3A Regional Championship hosted by Mount Zion.

Congratulations to Cara Farnam and the Lady Railers on this elite accomplishment!
