Railsplitters headed to State Track and Field Championships

Slack, Rutledge, Heitzig and Toft will compete at EIU

[May 27, 2022]    Congratulations to the Railsplitter Track and Field male athletes who will compete this weekend in the IHSA Class 2A State Track and Field Championships at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

The 4x800m relay team consisting of Garrett Slack, Drake Rutledge, Brenden Heitzig and Jude Toft qualified for State on May 19, 2022 at the Tolono Unity Sectional. These four athletes set a new Tolono Unity track record and a new LCHS record while placing first in sectionals with a time of 7:59.90.

 

Garrett Slack also qualified for State in the 800m with a time of 1:54.20. Slack finished first in the Sectionals and he also set a new track record at Tolono Unity. 

 

Brenden Heitzig qualified for State in the 1600m with a time of 4:33.31. Heitzig finished first in the Sectionals. 

 

Luke Jones just missed qualifying for State with a time of 4:49.71 in the 1600m. That was a PR for Jones. 

 

Parker Campbell and Caden Stewart also did very well in the 110m Hurdles at the Tolono Unity Sectional. Campbell finished third with a time of 16.01 and Stewart finished fourth with a time of 16.35. 

 

The team includes three alternates: 

Ethan Bivin,  Luke Jones  and Ben Crombie.
