Breast Cancer Awareness is a common theme that many organizations share throughout October each year. At the Lincoln Park District, the spin class uses their cycling as a fundraiser for the Susan Koman Breast Cancer Foundation. This year's goal was $400, and at the end of the month, they beat the goal by almost $100. Congratulations to the class and all those involved in helping support another important program utilized by local warriors.

Jennifer Prather of the LPD said, "Our rides were open for the community to ride for just the cost of the donation amount of their choice. We are so excited to have introduced more people to the spinning program we offer here at the Lincoln Park District and help raise money for a great cause."

On Saturday mid-day, those craving an authentic German meal had to look no further than the St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln.

The church was once the home of an annual Germanfest event every October, but a few years ago had to give it up. This year the local Boy Scout Troop 102, which St. John UCC sponsors, revived the old tradition as a fundraiser for the scouts.
