[November 02, 2022]   Mount Pulaski invited trick or treaters to the town square on Saturday for the community’s annual Trunk or Treat event.

There were 30 decorated trunks on display, each filled with tons of candy that was handed out to over 400 trick or treaters, according to Michelle Hagenbuch, one of the organizers of the event.

The creativity of the people who decorated their trunks and the cast of characters who dressed up for the event were truly out of this world, such as the theme “Pizza Man Planet” put together by Pizza Man’s Sallie Tschantz. With the help of Tschantz’s father-in-law Jerry, who had a hand in building the display, Sallie and her family dressed as aliens with the solar system in the background.

Pizza Man Planet was outdone by another local decorating legend, Kelly Aylesworth of D’Tails Dog Grooming. Aylesworth dressed for the part in her elaborate “Ghost Mine” display and it won over the local judges for the best trunk display by a business.

Kelly Solomon and her mom, Vicki Anderson, won in the individual trunk category for their festive Christmas-themed “Grinch” display that featured her children.

There were also several costume winners who posed on the courthouse lawn, among those were a cumulonimbus cloud, a tornado,

and a very handsome vampire king.

It’s worth highlighting the creativity behind not just the cumulonimbus cloud and the tornado, but also the green caterpillar. Each of these costumes were made by hand by the children’s mother, Sarah Buescher. While the Buescher boys told their mom in detail what they wanted to be for Halloween, she certainly made their dreams a reality the old-fashioned way, providing memories they will never forget along the way.

The town square was also filled with witches, ghosts and skeletons, all who brought a smile to the kids and adults alike.

It was a memory-making night on the hilltop all the way around.
